Meet the Team

Suzie Shanahan BSc (Hons) MCSP APCP

Founder & Highly Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist 

Bio Picture

Suzie is a highly skilled Children's Physiotherapist with over 16 years of specialist experience working with infants, children and young people. Suzie has a specialist interest in neurodevelopment and neuro-disability and is particularly passionate about supporting children and their families during Early Years Development. â€‹Suzie recognises the importance of early intervention to improve developmental outcomes for infants and toddlers.  

 

Suzie has  worked in the NHS and New Zealand healthcare system and the private sector. Her experience includes working at Child Development Centre's, Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools and Children's Hospital's. Suzie has also worked as a physiotherapist for the charity Cerebral Palsy Cymru. Through this vast clinical exposure, she has obtained and developed a wealth of physiotherapy and transdisciplinary knowledge which she can draw on to offer personalised therapy sessions to support your child's goals. ​  

 

Suzie looks at children’s strengths and abilities and considers what is impacting on their participation in everyday activities and works alongside them and their families to support their goals and aspirations. She places value on collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to  achieve the best possible outcomes for children and their families. Suzie helps children realise their potential at the same time as making the learning experience fun.  The emphasis is always of making therapy enjoyable and providing the right level of support to their parents. Suzie helps families navigate the complexities of looking after a child with health concerns or complex disability and is exceptionally dedicated to the children and families under her care.  â€‹â€‹â€‹

Suzie has completed numerous postgraduate courses to stay current with the evidence base and consolidate her knowledge and understanding of paediatric conditions and complex disability. She uses her paediatric Bobath knowledge, alongside other treatment approaches.

Suzie has an enhanced DBS certificate. She is also a member of the following professional organisations: HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council), CSP (Chartered Society of Physiotherapy) and APCP (Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists) and European Academy of Childhood Disability (EACD).​​​​​​​​​​ ​
